watchdog that slows down or kills a runaway process
A separate component that watches a process and intervenes when it's misbehaving — burning too much CPU, leaking memory, accepting too many connections. Throttles or kills before it takes down the host. K8s liveness probes, OOM-killer, JVM circuit breakers all fit this shape.
